SEAGRASS CARPET FLOORING PERTH

Seagrass rugs are proving a popular natural alternative to carpets. Seagrass flooring is made from entirely natural materials that are eco-friendly and sustainable. Seagrass is used use for carpets and other woven products, it looks and feels similar to coir but only comes in two colours, pale brown and light green.

Seagrass flooring is produced by weaving yarn spun from the dried leaves of the seagrass plant. The plant grows in many shallow coastal waters around the world and in paddy fields in China. It is not exactly grass, but the leaves are long, flat and blade-like, so the name stuck.

A seagrass carpet is usually backed with latex to keep the entire product natural, which makes it perfect for homes where families want to lower the potentially harmful elements from artificial materials.

Before installing your seagrass flooring you must be certain it meets your needs. They are unsuitable for wet areas so avoid seagrass carpets, mats or rugs in the bathroom or kitchen.

A seagrass rug can be made with different pattern designs and fine or coarse weaves. Although colours are limited due to its texture, it is possible to get mixed weaves of seagrass and sisal, with the more easily dyed sisal adding a splash of hue.

The two natural colours of Seagrass do work well with contemporary natural interior styles.
